WizKids Takes Major Steps To Improve Heroclix Playing Experience

For far too long, Heroclix championships have been dominated by players who utilize clever positioning and build teams which have the elements needed to optimize their chances of dealing damage and scoring enough points to take down their opponents. WizKids has finally taken steps to improve the Heroclix experience for other players, and they’re thus far being met with unanimous enthusiasm.

SIMPLIFY TURNS BY GIVING PLAYERS ONLY 2 ACTIONS TO WORK WITH

For whatever reason, WizKids has long operated under the assumption that players want to be given the opportunity to use all of the figures and game elements they put on their teams, and allow their opponents to be given that same privilege. This is, of course, utterly ridiculous… no one wants to sit around as their opponent gets the chance to use their team as intended.

WizKids finally got their act together with the release of Spider-Man 1776, who can reduce your opponent’s action total and turns off nearby Leadership and Autonomous. Spider-Man 1776 can also be played in multiples, to help ensure nearly every team will operate under the new 2-action limit! This is definitely a step in the right direction, but players will undoubtedly be dissatisfied until everyone is only given a single action per turn.

MAKE “POSITIONING” A LESS SIGNIFICANT SKILLSET

It has always been incredibly unfair that players who know how to cleverly position their teams have found the most success in the game of Heroclix. These devious individuals have figured out how to use Carry, Telekinesis, Colossal Retaliation and other stupid powers and abilities for nefarious purposes, so WizKids has thankfully introduced Valeria von Doom and Venom Groot to the game to make positioning far more complicated. Now, if those chess-loving asshats want to bring certain characters into the fight, they’ll have to worry about taking penetrating damage from a figure that’s less than 15% of your build!

TAKE ATTACK ROLLS OUT OF THE EQUATION

Nearly everyone who has ever lost a game of Heroclix can attest to the fact that they only lost because of unlucky dice. It’s not fair that these individuals always lose purely because of something out of their control, and WizKids is finally owning up to this flaw in the game and introducing more figures which can ensure victory without making any attack rolls.

Thanks to the ever-genius wording in the Heroclix Rulebook, KNOCKBACK takes place one square at a time, so the aforementioned Valeria von Doom and Venom Groot can deal up to 6 damage from a single Force Blast. For 5 points, a Spin Ring or Influence Ring can be added to a team to let those two deal damage for free. Everyone can agree that it’s more fun for everyone when characters get KO’d without having been attacked.

ENCOURAGE STRATEGIES THAT CAN END GAMES IN 2-3 TURNS

Let’s be honest… no one wants to play Heroclix for 45 minutes. It’s embarrassing to sit around touching plastic toys for that long, so WizKids has found creative ways to keep games under 10 minutes and let players keep some semblance of their dignity.

They’ve recently figured out how to fit Vulture Prime onto theme teams, and introduced plenty of ways to increase his stats dramatically and launch him into the fight so that he can wipe out entire teams in a single turn. Not everyone wanted to play a B-Grade Spider-Man villain, though, so WizKids also threw Batman Prime into the mix. Batman can deal massive amounts of penetrating damage to entire teams at once, and can easily find a spot on a number of high-level theme teams to ensure he’ll get to work on his favorite maps.

A few basement-dwelling mouth-breathers have called for these two characters to get Watch Listed, but WizKids knows what the gaming community really wants and has instead focused on making major changes to Captain Marvel.

MAKE IT EASIER FOR PLAYERS TO DECIDE WHICH THEME TEAM TO RUN WITH

According to statistics found on Reddit.com, of the 50% of players who somehow managed to find someone to mate with, 95% spend more time thinking about what theme team to bring to the next tournament than they do thinking about their wives and children.

This should no longer be a problem, because “Spider-Man Family” is now the only acceptable choice. Thanks to figures from the latest Marvel set, nearly everyone in the game can now team up with the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler and his friends!

It had always been so unfair that Spidey couldn’t team up with his closest allies from the comics, Jason Wyngarde and Batman. Now, that’s no longer the case.

WizKids’ Penny KeƱya promises more improvements like these are on the horizon. Heroclix is changing, and it’s clear from the conversations taking place online, the playing community has never been happier.
